Aston Villa key player set to miss Manchester United clash with suspension

Manchester United may have received a massive boost in their attempt to beat Aston Villa at Villa Park next two weeks after John McGinn has been suspended for the clash.

The Scotland international received his fifth yellow card of the season after getting on Craig Pawson’s book late in the game against Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

McGinn has been a key player for the Villans in recent seasons and has made 17 appearances in the Premier League this season already.

The 27-year-old, who has 3 goals and 2 assists to his name, would be a great loss for Aston Villa, who surrendered their early lead as Brentford came from behind to win it late 2-1.

While Villa would massively miss the Scot against Manchester United on January 15, it is a blessing in disguise for the Reds, given how the midfielder has played a role in making it difficult for United to get an easy ride over Aston Villa.

John McGinn was part of the Aston Villa squad that won Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture on September 25. Bruno Fernandes missed what was supposed to be United’s late equaliser from the penalty spot.

Before the clash, Man United will have played Wolves at Old Trafford on January 3.

United are anxious to get their second league win in a row after beating Burnley 3-1 on Monday night.

Ralf Rangnick’s side occupies the 7th position with 31 points from 18 matches and a win over the Wanderers will advance their chances of forcing their way back into the top-four.

Fourth-placed Arsenal dropped points on Saturday after losing 2-1 to Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.
