Berbatov & Michael Owen predict Newcastle vs Manchester United tie

Manchester United have been backed by Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov to get all three points off Newcastle United next week.

Man United will play visitors to the Magpies on Monday night in what is expected to be their first game since their narrow 1-0 win over Norwich City on December 12.

The Red Devils, who have won their last three Premier League matches under Ralf Rangnick, will look to remain unbeaten under the German boss.

Berbatov believes Newcastle United would be relegated this season as they are easily conceding goals and claims they would lose all three points on Monday night if Manchester United played the game with full concentration.

Newcastle are going to be building their team for the Championship, I said it last week and I’m even more sure of it,” Berbatov said.

“The fans will be really up for this one, they will make it tough, they also need the points desperately.

“That being said they are leaking goals easily and United can take advantage of that if they stay concentrated.

“If United have an ambition for big things this season they have to win these matches.” Prediction 1-3.

Michael Owen believes the problem at Newcastle United lies on their backline rather than on their attacking line.

The former England international expects the home side to get on the score sheet but believes their leaky backline would receive more goals from the visiting side.

“I’ve said all season that I don’t worry about the goals in this side, Callum Wilson is a natural goal scorer, but they need to improve defensively,” Owen said.

“They’ve been in a difficult run of fixtures though, and things will get easier from now.

“With the home fans behind them, I can see Newcastle scoring. I don’t trust them at the back though and United will score a couple of their own.”

Prediction: Newcastle 1-2 Manchester United

Both Owen and Berbatov expect the home side to get on the score sheet against a Manchester United side who have kept two clean sheets in their last two league games.
