Bordeaux 'seeking' to sign Phil Jones, Manchester United centre-back

Manchester United defender Phil Jones is attracting interest from Bordeaux, according to reports in France.

It was Jones’ first performance for Manchester United since 2019 against Wolves. He performed excellently but his superb performance couldn’t prevent United from losing 1-0 at home to the Wanderers.

After his display against Wolves, the England international received several plaudits from fans, pundits, team-mates, and Ralf Rangnick.

And he is now attracting interest abroad, with L’Equipe via Get French Football News reporting that French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux are ‘seeking’ to sign Phil Jones, who Manchester United value at £15million.

Speaking about Jones’ recent performance, Ralf Rangnick was pleased with the 29-year-old centre-back, who left the pitch after the game in tears as fans sang his name.

“There was no doubt at all regarding his attitude because I saw him [Phil Jones] training,” Rangnick said.

“If you consider hasn’t played in two years it was a very good performance.”

Luke Shaw also reserved some warm comments for his compatriot, urging him to be proud of the performance he showed against Wolves.

“One thing I will say is Phil Jones should be proud of himself,” Shaw said after United’s 1-0 home defeat to Wolves.

“He has been criticised for years, and has gone through a lot, but he is so professional and he has trained heard anmd he was phenomenal.

“He was exceptional, I am very happy for him and he deserves it.”

Phil Jones has made any appearance since the Wolves game but has made United’s squad on a few times.
