Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has claimed that their performance was better than the result they got against Aston Villa, insisting United deserved more than a draw.
Man United opened the scoring early in the game after Fernandes’ strike got the better of Martinez, whose howler gifted the Portuguese a decent goal.
Villa pushed to get the equaliser before the interval but United held tight and defended properly.
In the second half, the home side outplayed Manchester United but somehow, conceded yet another goal from Fernandes after Aston Villa player’s howler gifted United the chance to protect their lead.
United’s two goals wouldn’t kill off Aston Villa’s intentions. They fought back and scored two late goals to leave things all square at Villa Park.
Fernandes believes United controlled the game and should have won the game if they scored from the chances they created.
“A tough one to take, the game was under control,” said Fernandes.
“After their first goal, they started to press us a bit more but we could have scored again.
“The shot was not good, the pass or run, then you start losing balls and confidence.
“The performance was better than the result, for sure. We controlled the game more, we deserved more.
“But the game is not about deserving and still a lot to improve on.”
