Bruno Fernandes praises Man United star Anthony Elanga who gave 'everything' vs Aston Villa

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes admitted that Anthony Elanga was one of the best players on the pitch and gave ‘everything’ against Aston Villa.

Man United interim boss Ralf Rangnick started Elanga alongside Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani in the attack, after Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo were all absent from the game.

Though the Swedish forward did not get on the score sheet against Villa, his presence was felt, after he made a few attempts on goal.

Despite his eye-catching performance, Rangnick hauled him off for Jadon Sancho with 12 minutes left of the regular time.

Fernandes was pleased with the young forward, hailing him as one of the best on the Villa Park pitch.

‘I said it last season already, Anthony [Elanga] is a kid that works hard and is prepared to be in the team, prepared to play,’ Fernandes told MUTV.

‘He’s being a top kid, waiting for his moment, training really hard and he deserved the chance that he got today.

‘He was, for me, one of the best on the pitch. He gave everything.

‘I said to him that my goal started from his header because he won the header. It seems like nothing, but these are really important moments in the games.

‘We are really happy for him because he deserved his chance.’
