Cristiano Ronaldo blocked what could've been the opener from Fernandes vs Watford

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes could have scored the opener vs Watford but Cristiano Ronaldo unintentionally blocked the strike that was going on goal.

Man United dropped two valuable points when they played a goalless draw against Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

United missed several big chances in the first half, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo missing from what looked like goalscoring positions.

Bruno Fernandes came close to opening the scoring in the first half when he meandered his way through on goal but his strike that was heading straight on goal was blocked by Cristiano Ronaldo, who thought he was in an offside position.

Upon Ronaldo’s impact, Fernandes could be seen showing his frustration towards his compatriot as he believed his strike would have beaten Ben Forster.

Ronaldo did well to inform him he was in an offside position and if he had made a move and Fernandes‘ strike eventually got into the back of the net, his effort would be ruled out for a Ronaldo offside.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner hit the bar in the second half. United did everything right but got it all wrong in finishing their chances.

Fernandes came close again to scoring the first goal but his strike was stopped by Ben Forster. Fans slammed the ex-Sporting star for not passing the ball to Ronaldo, who was through on goal.

Man United will play visitors to Manchester City next weekend in the Premier League.
