Cristiano Ronaldo sends apology after fan 'phone smashing' at Everton

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has sent an apology after he smashed a fan’s phone at Goodison Park.

Man United succumbed to a tight 1-0 defeat to Everton to further put their top-four hopes in the dark.

Like every other Manchester United player, Ronaldo was frustrated by United’s inability to beat 17th-placed Everton at lunchtime today.

The Portuguese star, who appeared to have played through pains against The Toffees, failed to control his emotions and smashed a fan’s phone while limping off the pitch.

Reports claimed Manchester United are investigating the incident involving footage of Cristiano Ronaldo and a mobile phone at Goodison Park.

But the 37-year-old forward has taken to Facebook to apologise to the fan for his outburst and offered him a chance to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of sportsmanship.

“It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing,” Ronaldo wrote.

“Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.

“I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship.”
