Cristiano Ronaldo tells team-mates he'd remain at Manchester United on one condition

Manchester United fans could be watching Cristiano Ronaldo from a close distance again next season after the iconic striker has reportedly told his team-mates he could remain at the club.

Man United resigned Ronaldo from Juventus last summer and handed him a two-year deal plus an option to make it three years.

The 37-year-old returned back to Old Trafford in a bid to win more trophies but his return hasn’t gone close to what he initially had in mind.

Manchester United have crashed out of all four competitions and would be ending the season trophyless, yet again, something they have endured in the past five years.

United’s season became worse after it was all but confirmed on Saturday that they wouldn’t be in the Champions League next season following their 4-0 defeat at Brighton.

It would be the first time in 20 years the Champions League would move on without Cristiano Ronaldo in it, but this depends on if the Portuguese star wants to remain at Old Trafford.

And regardless of the wage cuts, reported by Daily Mirror, The Sun reported that the former Real Madrid forward has told his team-mates he would stay at United but only if Erik ten Hag wants him.

Manchester United announced in April that Ten Hag will become their next permanent manager, who would take over from Ralf Rangnick at the end of this season.

A host of senior players including Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata will be leaving the club in the summer. Ronaldo could or could not follow suit.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 24 goals in all competitions this season and two hat-tricks against Tottenham and Norwich City.
