Man United started the game on the front foot and got their reward with two early decent chances, with Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho failing to convert from any.
The Red Devils had a superb counter-attack down the left-wing, which saw Sancho put Ronaldo through with a beautiful through pass.
Cristiano Ronaldo did well to beat Forster and had a weak attempt on goal but his strike would be cleared off the goal line.
A Ronaldo at his very best or with top confidence would have buried the chance correctly – no questions asked but somehow, he failed to get the breakthrough.
A few minutes later, Manchester United approached forward again but this time it was Jadon Sancho, who missed from a goalscoring position when Forster stopped his weak strike.
United missing two glorious chances early in the game had its pending repercussion after the interval when their lead would be cancelled out in the 49th minute by Che Adams.
Those were two of United’s best chances of the game until Harry Maguire had a chance to restore Manchester United’s lead in the last-minute of the game but his header was kept out by Forster.
The tie ended 1-1 at Old Trafford and as a result, United are in the 5th position with 40 points from 24 matches, the same points as 4th placed West Ham United.
