Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea believes the second tie against Atletico Madrid will be ’50-50′ and also reserves special words for Anthony Elanga.
Man United may have played below standards at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday night but they returned back to Carrington with a 1-1 draw.
A result De Gea admits it was ‘fair’ for both teams, given the chances that flew both ends.
Joao Felix opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a brilliant header. Watch the goal here.
Now, Manchester United MUST win at Old Trafford, if they aspire to proceed to the Champions League quarter-final.
“In the second half we showed that we have good character and we played good, scored a goal and everything to play at Old Trafford.”
On the round of 16 return leg at Manchester, the Spanish goalie, who also started the game on the wrong footy, believes either team can proceed further but hopes the fans at Old Trafford would be a bonus.
David de Gea added: “The second leg will be 50-50, both teams can win but with the fans hopefully we can play better than today. Let’s win the game and be in the next round.”
On Elanga, de Gea said: “He [Anthony Elanga] is playing very well, he has been an important player for us, still very young and has scored important goals for us. Massive for him and for us.”
