Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani has sent a clear message to Ralf Rangnick after impressing during Uruguay’s win over Venezuela.

Cavani isn’t a starter at Man United under Rangnick, and it’s obvious given the number of players including Cristiano Ronaldo, who can operate in the ex-PSG star’s role.

Though Cavani’s last start for Manchester United was during United’s disappointing 2-2 draw against Aston Villa, the 34-year-old wouldn’t hold back during a World Cup Qualifier game against Venezuela.

The former Napoli forward scored an acrobatic goal in the last seconds of the first half to triple Uruguay’s lead against Venezuela.

His performance has convinced Rangnick that he is capable of providing goals in the Manchester United starting lineup just as he’s viewed as an impact substitute.

And the German boss would definitely be pleased with Cavani’s performance as that would help boost his confidence, which would be good for United.

Man United loanee Facundo Pellistri put out a scintillating performance against Venezuela. The forward, who is currently on loan with Deportivo Alaves, got past four players to set up Uruguay’s second goal. Watch it here.

The youngster would go on to win a penalty early in the second half to hand Luis Suarez a chance to score Uruguay‘s fourth goal from the penalty spot.

Pellistri played 67 minutes before being replaced by Agustin Canobbio. Edinson Cavani played as much as Pellistri and made way for Darwin Núñez.

Uruguay won Venezuela 4-1 in the World Cup Qualifiers game, with Josef Martinez scoring a consolation goal in the 65th minute.

Manchester United are back in action on Friday when they play visitors to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fourth round.

With Mason Greenwood set to miss the tie due to an ongoing domestic violence charge accused by his girlfriend, Harriet Robson, Cavani is in contention to feature in the clash.
