Incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has described Cristiano Ronaldo with a new superlative ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford on Monday.
Ten Hag led Ajax to the Eredivisie title on Wednesday night after a resounding 5-0 win over Heerenveen. The Dutchman managed his final game as Ajax boss on Sunday as they drew 2-2 against Vitesse.
The 52-year-old has turned down the chance to travel with Ajax‘s squad for their post-season trip to Curacao this week in a bid to travel to Manchester on Monday to begin work at Old Trafford.
Several senior players are expected to leave the club at the end of the season due to contract issues and Cristiano Ronaldo has also been linked with moves away from the club, despite having one year left on his current deal.
Erik ten Hag has indicated that he is keen on having the Portuguese icon in his squad at Manchester United ahead of next season after he described the 37-year-old as a ‘giant’.
‘What I have to say about it is, the detailed analysis still has to begin, I still have to work with the team, but let me be clear that at United there are a lot of good players around.
‘We have to make them function as a team but definitely [Cristiano] Ronaldo, he is a giant.’
