Ex-Man United star Andreas Pereira error gifted Palmeiras Copa Libertatores title Trophy

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira, who is on a season-long loan with Flamengo, produced one of the worst howlers after his error gifted Palmeiras the Copa Libertatores title.

Palmeiras locked horns with Flamengo in the Copa Libertatores final on Saturday night.

Raphael Veiga opened the scoring in the 5th minute to give Palmeiras an early lead but a fine effort from Gabriel Barbosa in the 72nd minute levelled things up.

Both sides were forced to end the regular time in a 1-1 draw, which forced the final to head into the extra-time.

In the first half of the extra-time, Andreas Pereira, who was in possession of the ball, slipped inside his own half, giving the ball away to Deyversion, who added pressure on the Manchester United star.

The forward would go on to score Palmeiras’ second goal after his strike was deflected by the goalkeeper.

Pereira was then substituted after his howler but Flamengo failed to fight back into the game.

The Brazilian’s error has since gone viral across social media. Surely, it will be another match for Andreas Pereira to forget.

The 25-year-old has played 16 Serie A matches for Flamengo and has managed only 5 goals and 1 assist so far this season.
