Manchester United could be without the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, and Edinson Cavani in the squad against Manchester City, according to MEN.
Manchester Evening News journalist, Samuel Luckhurst, reported that there was no signs of both experienced strikers in Ronaldo and Cavani in the squad that would face City on Sunday.
There were suggestions early today claiming Ralf Rangnick, United’s interim boss, has decided to start the five-time Ballon d’Or winner on the bench, amid his recent dreadful performance upfront.
Ronaldo has only scored once in his last ten matches and missed a few glorious chances, which would go on to play a role in Manchester United’s disappointing results.
Cavani only returned to training this week and the German boss was pleased to have the former PSG forward back into the mix.
“It’s good to have him [Edinson Cavani] back,” said Rangnick. “We have one more alternative in a central attacking position but he has been out for three weeks. That’s also something we have to bear in mind.
“I don’t think he [Cavani] could play for more than, I don’t know, half an hour. He’s ready for that, for coming on as a sub but I don’t think he can be in contention to start that game.”
