Manchester United legends succumbed to a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Liverpool legends at Old Trafford in the LegendoftheNorth clash.
After a well-entertained first half that ended in a goalless draw, the away side opened the scoring early in the second half through a fine finish from Luis Garcia.
A few minutes later, Manchester United legends fought their way back into the game when Dimitar Berbatov scored the equaliser from the penalty spot. Watch his ice-cold penalty kick here.
The Reds would restore their lead midway through the second when Liverpool legend Mark Gonzalez scored from a free-kick.
Late on in the game, Mark Gonzalez scored his second goal and Liverpool’s third goal of the game with a fine finish.
Manchester United legends had little or no time to reduce the deficit but they would have yet another 90 minutes to turn things around when both sides lock horns at Anfield in the second leg in September.
It was an entertaining football, but in the bigger picture, the money raised for the Manchester United Foundation.
The foundation does great work for the people of Manchester, and it was a great day out for everyone involved.
