Gary Lineker takes massive dig at Manchester United after loss to Everton

Former England international Gary Lineker has taken a massive dig at Manchester United after they lost against Everton.

Man United initially thought they would close in on Tottenham and Arsenal at Goodison Park today but the reverse ensued when Gordon’s first-half strike proved enough to hand Frank Lampard’s men all three points.

Everton needed a response against Manchester United, having endured a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Burney on Wednesday night.

And The Toffees got the perfect reaction they needed, savaging United’s chances of finishing in the top-four with a hard-fought 1-0 win.

It’s a huge win for Frank Lampard’s men, given the form and position they are in, but Gary Lineker sarcastically played the win down, hinting that beating United isn’t special.

After the final whistle, the ex-England player tweeted: “Massive win for @everton. I know it’s only against @ManUtd but it’s huge nevertheless.”

Marcus Rashford had two chances in the first half to break the deadlock but his efforts weren’t good enough to beat Jordan Pickford.

In the second half, he got another but couldn’t find the perfect touch to Bruno Fernandes’ through ball.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville also had a go at his former club, describing their performance as a ‘joke’. The Ex-England defender would also reserve some special praise for Everton.

Neville tweeted: “United a joke. Well done to Everton. Would have also been hard for Frank Lampard to hear Sean Dyche say what he said so well done to him. Some response.”
