"He's doesn't get pinned by a defender" - Rio Ferdinand hails Man United star Mason Greenwood

Former England international Rio Ferdinand has hailed Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood as an ‘elusive’ player, who doesn’t get pinned by a defender.

Man United were held to an annoying 1-1 draw at Old Trafford by Young Boys on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

Mason Greenwood scored a brilliant volley in the 9th minute to hand United charge of the game.

However, his effort would be turned behind following a stunning strike from Young Boys’ star Fabian Rieder in the 42nd minute.

Ralf Rangnick fielded out a much-rotated squad against the Switzerland side, with Mason Greenwood leading United’s frontline alongside Amad Diallo and Anthony Elanga.

Speaking of Greenwood’s performance, Ferdinand was particularly pleased with the youngster’s movement inside the box and raved that the 20-year-old doesn’t get pinned by a defender.

Mason Greenwood’s movement for the goal is deft and the finish – bang,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“His style is much like Robin van Persie. He’s elusive, doesn’t get pinned by a defender. He knows how to find space.”

Mason Greenwood was a second half substitute against Crystal Palace last weekend in the Premier League and was the player, who provided the assist to Fred’s match-winning goal.

Manchester United will play visitors to Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday evening in the league.

United have gone five matches without a defeat [3W2D] in all competitions, including the draw vs Young Boys.

Man United will look to maintain that unbeaten run against the Canaries this weekend.
