Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix reportedly rejected a move to Manchester United so he could force his way to Barcelona, according to reports.

Felix moved to Chelsea in the second half of last season but underperformed in most matches and as a result, the Blues did not try to make his transfer permanent.

He returned to Atleti at the end of last season but yet was linked with moves to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

The Portuguese attacker eventually signed for Barca on a season-long loan deal in August, putting the uncertainty around his future to rest.

Manchester United were keen on signing an attacker during the summer transfer market but top sources never linked Felix with a move to Old Trafford.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the former Benfica forward rejected the chance to join his compatriot Bruno Fernandes at the Theatre of Dreams.

Manchester United eventually signed Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta and the youngster made his debut last weekend against Arsenal.

United will return to action next weekend when they host Brighton at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
