Joe Cole tells Newcastle to sign Manchester United player in January to avoid relegation

Former Chelsea forward Joe Cole has urged Newcastle United to sign Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard and other ‘ready-made Premier League players’ in January to save their season.

The Magpies are occupying the 19th position in the league but are just three points off safety.

Newcastle United are expected to splash the cash in the winter transfer market as the new owners look to ensure the club remains in the top flight.

Cole has identified the Manchester United midfielder as one player who has the potential to help the relegation-threatened side remain in the Premier League.

Lingard has struggled to start for the Red Devils this season but has also been effective when he comes off the bench.

The England international has two goals to his name in the Premier League, well, as a substitute, and despite his lack of playing time, a number of teams have been linked with moves for his signature.

West Ham and Newcastle are reportedly showing interest in the midfielder and Cole has urged Newcastle United to go for the 28-year-old’s signing.

Jesse Lingard, I think, would be a great signing for someone,’ Cole told Coral.

‘I’m sure he’s come across Newcastle’s radar. They’ll have the financial power to go and buy him.

‘Kieran Tierney as well, is another who is out of the team at Arsenal, I think would be fantastic.

‘I think he’s ideal for Newcastle. I don’t know why he’s not playing regularly at Arsenal recently.

‘Aaron Ramsey over at Juventus, he looks like he wants a move. These are players for Newcastle who would tick a box.

‘You want someone with Premier League experience. The bright thing for Newcastle to do in January is to buy players ready-made for the Premier League, who know the league.
