Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly showing interest in bringing Eric Bailly to AS Roma next season.
That is according to a report in Italy, that holds that Mourinho would also be open to signing Bailly on a temporary basis.
Bailly has struggled to play regularly at Man United this season, despite signing a new contract with The Red Devils last year.
The Ivorian’s playing time was thwarted after Manchester United signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid and failed to sell one of Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, and Harry Maguire.
Eric Bailly is behind the likes of Varane, Maguire, and Lindelof in the pecking order at Old Trafford, hence why he has only managed seven appearances this season.
According to Il Romanista, Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with Bailly at AS Roma, having worked with the ex-Villareal defender at United between 2016 and 2018.
The report holds that the former Chelsea and Man United boss would also attempt to sign the 27-year-old on loan if Manchester United refused to cash in on the defender.
AC Milan showed interest in signing the centre-back on loan in January but Ralf Rangnick blocked the transfer for some obvious reason.
Mourinho signed Eric Bailly from Villarreal in 2016 and the Ivory Coast international played a role in helping United win the Europa League and EFL Cup.
Manchester United will face Leeds United on Sunday in the Premier League and Bailly is in contention to feature against The Whites after returning to training this week.
