Karim Benzema makes Cristiano Ronaldo admissions after hat-trick vs Chelsea

Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema has played down claims that he made Cristiano Ronaldo the most decorated player in Los Blancos history, insisting that Ronaldo helped him too.

The Portuguese icon moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2009 for a then-world transfer fee.

Ronaldo would go on to win four Champions League titles, four Ballon d’Or awards and other top honours during his nine years at Santiago Bernabue.

The 38-year-old left Real for Juventus in 2018 after breaking every relevant record at Madrid.

While he was at Real, Karim Benzema would hardly make headlines because he was in the 38-year-old’s shadow but he’s now the pointman at Bernabue after Real Madrid offloaded Ronaldo to Juve.

As a result, Benzema is now making massive headlines week in week out thanks to his regular noteworthy performances, including his masterclass against Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Now, many fans are now suggesting that the France international lowered his shine in order to help Ronaldo become the greatest player to have ever played for Real Madrid.

After he scored three goals to help Real beat Chelsea 3-1 in the Champions League first led of the quarter-final, the 34-year-old stated that he got as much help from Ronaldo as he did for the Manchester United forward during their time at Madrid.

Karim Benzema told L’Equipe: “People talk about how much I helped Cristiano, but he really helped me a lot too.

“He’s the player who gave me the most assists.”

Ronaldo has scored 18 goals since returning to Old Trafford last summer but he’s assured of ending the season without a single trophy.

Yes, it could go worse for Cristiano Ronaldo, as he could miss out on Champions League football next season.
