Manchester United have been fined €10,000 by UEFA after a couple of supporters targeted Diego Simeone during a Champions League clash at Old Trafford.
Man United crashed out of the competition following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid at Manchester in the round of 16.
After the first half whistle, a group of Manchester United fans threw objects at Diego Simeone, which reflected how frustrated they were following their team’s elimination from the competition.
MEN have reported that Manchester United have been fined after failing to prevent their fans from throwing things at the visitors’ manager.
The same report claims that Man United launched their own investigation into the incident as they reviewed CCTV footage to try and identify the fans involved – but UEFA have now handed the punishment down to the club.
United played a 1-1 draw in Spain but lost the return leg at home in March, which all but confirmed their five-year title drought.
