Manchester United have reportedly reached 'verbal' agreement with Ajax star

Manchester United have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Jurrien Timber but Ajax are yet to receive an approach from United, according to reports.

Man United are expected to splash the cash in the summer, in a bid to advance new boss Erik ten Hag’s chances of challenging for top honours.

United are also set on parting ways with some senior players, with their current contracts expiring in the summer.

Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are also expected to push for exits in the summer after they failed to get more playing time under Ralf Rangnick.

Harry Maguire has also come under fire for his poor performances this season, and as a result, there are suggestions that United could be signing at least one centre-back in the summer.

According to MUFCMPB via Twitter, Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement with Jurrien Timber, 20, who plays as a centre-back at Ajax.

The outlet claimed that the Dutch club have only been informed about the progress made between Timber’s camp and Manchester United but are yet to receive a formal approach from United.

They also report that an official bid would be made afterwards.

Erik ten Hag also dropped hints on his Ajax players Timber and Antony amid interest from Manchester United.

On a potential deal for Timber to Man United, Ten Hag told @mikeverweij: “I think all top clubs have Timber in their sight…

“Antony? If Antony would go — it would be a blow for Ajax because in their current squad there is nobody to replace him.”
