Nemanja Matic to join others in leaving Manchester United this summer

Manchester United holding midfielder Nemanja Matic has reportedly decided to leave the club at the end of the season, according to reports.

Man United are expected to sign younger players in the summer in a bid to help Erik ten Hag, who is now expected to be United’s next boss, to challenge for top honours.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, Axel Tuazebe, and Jesse Lingard are set on leaving the club as free agents at the end of the season.

Now, Jonathan Shrager has reported that Nemanja Matic, as things stand at the moment, will join them in leaving the club in the summer.

The Serbian has been a squad player since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho in 2018 due to the level of competition in the midfield.

United have made signing at least one midfielder in the summer their top priority. Should that be the case, the former Chelsea midfielder’s playing time at the club will be thwarted.

The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay are expected to remain at the club, plus they will be joined by Donny van de Beek, who will have returned back from his Everton loan.

Declan Rice and Ruben Neves are the two of the few midfielders, who have been linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent seasons.
