Manchester United reportedly end interest in world-class forward

Manchester United have reportedly ended their interest in Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland after accepting the forward wants a move to Real Madrid.

Man United were strongly linked with a move to lure Haaland two seasons ago during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign but due to their inability to agree to terms with Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agent, the Norwegian left RB Salzburg to join Dortmund.

Upon his winter switch to the Bundesliga side, the youngster continued his scintillating form, scoring 13 goals and providing 2 assists in 15 Bundesliga games during his half-season with Dortmund.

In his first full season, the 21-year-old forward registered 27 goals plus 6 assists in 28 Bundesliga matches.

This season, the Norway international has continued from where he left off, scoring 19 goals in all competitions.

His consistency has attracted the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, and both Manchester clubs, with Daily Mail reporting that City has marked Haaland as their ‘top priority’.

BILD report that PSG are preparing a £300million transfer fee for Erling Haaland. And the forward’s salary with the Parisians is said to be around £30m annually.

However, the Daily Mirror via Fotbollskanalen report that Manchester United are cooling their interest in Erling Haaland.

United reportedly made this decision after they received the impression that Haaland’s top priority is to move to Real Madrid at the end of the season.

The Red Devils are not lacking qualities in their front line, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga, Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial currently available at Ralf Rangnick’s disposal.

However, United are likely to part ways with Cavani at the end of the season, when his contract runs out. Martial wants to leave the club in a bid to get more playing time and he could get his wish this month.

Sevilla, Juventus and Barcelona have already shown interest in the France star.
