Manchester United sent their scout to watch transfer target and Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves in action against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.
Man United are obviously going to sign at least one midfielder in the summer as a direct replacement for Paul Pogba, who will be leaving the club as a free agent in June.
Like Pogba, the likes of Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic are all but set on leaving the club at the end of the season and the Dutchman is expected to start his rebuild from the midfield.
Donny van de Beek will return to Old Trafford when his loan spell at Everton ends at the end of the season but his return is expected not to thwart the Dutchman’s plans on rebuilding his United’s midfield.
Neves has been a target for Manchester United since last year and Daily Express have reported that The Red Devils sent a senior scout to Molineux Stadium to watch the Portuguese star in action against Brighton.
The scout wouldn’t be all impressed after watching The Wanderers succumb to a huge 3-0 loss at home to The Seagulls. Neves’ performance got summed up after he was replaced in the second half.
The 25-year-old has scored four goals in 24 Premier League matches from midfield this season.
