Manchester United star set to snub January exit to remain at the club

Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard has reportedly decided to remain at the club until the end of the season, according to reports.

Lingard has struggled to make the first team since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon three seasons ago.

Due to lack of playing time, the England international spent the second half of last season on loan with West Ham United.

The 29-year-old would impress at the London Stadium, hence the reason Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to bring the midfielder back to Old Trafford at the end of last term.

Though Lingard has struggled to make his way back into the first team this season, The Athletic report that the Englishman isn’t focused on leaving the club next month.

The same report holds that Jesse Lingard is allowed to secure a pre-contract agreement with an overseas team next month but has decided to wait until the end of the season before weighing up his options.

Several teams such as Newcastle United, West Ham, and Everton are already monitoring Lingard’s situation at United.

Joe Cole recently urged Newcastle to try and sign Lingard from Manchester United next month in order to boost their chances of avoiding relegation this season.

Jesse Lingard, I think, would be a great signing for someone,’ Cole told Coral.

‘I’m sure he’s come across Newcastle’s radar. They’ll have the financial power to go and buy him.

Lingard has made eight Premier League appearances this term and has scored twice off the bench.
