Manchester United target Declan Rice raves about 'unbelievable' Paul Pogba

West Ham United star Declan Rice has raved about Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, claiming that the France star is one of the three ‘top three’ players he has ever played against.

Pogba has been touted by many including fans, football pundits, and team-mates, as a world-class player, thanks to his attributes that make him one of the rarest complete midfielders in the world.

The World Cup winner, who was on the sidelines for three months with a muscle injury, made his first appearance under Ralf Rangnick against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup and his performance was outstanding, though it lacked only a goal or assist.

Paul Pogba scored the opener against Burnley before coming off the bench to provide an assist to Bruno Fernandes’ last-minute goal against Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday.

Despite the Frenchman’s contributions, some fans still struggle to come to terms with the 28-year-old over his lack of consistency, but Rice, who has been linked with moves to Manchester United in recent transfer markets, believes the ex-Juve star ranks high amongst the toughest opponents he has faced.

“People criticise him [Paul Pogba], but he’s honestly top three players I’ve ever played against,” Rice told BT Sport.

“He’s so strong, so good on the ball, can take the ball under a crazy amount of pressure and get out of it with a skill, knows how to play one, two touch, can play long passes. He’s unbelievable and a top guy as well.

“My second game for West Ham was at Old Trafford, we lost 4-0, I came on with half an hour to go and he [Pogba] ran the show.

“I went into a 50-50 with him and I was like ‘what’ve I just ran into?’, he was rock solid.”

Paul Pogba will become a free agent at the end of the season and clubs are expected to pile up in a bid to seal his services for free.

Manchester United will play visitors to Leeds United on Sunday in the Premier League and Pogba will get another chance to impress Ralf Rangnick.
