Paul Merson predicts upsetting result for Manchester United vs Crystal Palace clash

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has predicted that Manchester United will settle for a draw against ‘dangerous’ Crystal Palace.

Man United will host Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League and will look to build from their latest unbeaten run set by former caretaker manager Michael Carrick.

United are unbeaten in their last three matches despite facing the likes of Villarreal in the Champions League, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League.

The Red Devils will dare to get their second league win in a row against Palace under Ralf Rangnick but Merson believes the German boss would start off their Old Trafford era with a draw.

The ex-Arsenal star hopes Rangnick gives Jadon Sancho a run of games in order to help the ex-Dortmund star continue his fine form.

Manchester United managed a great result against Arsenal this week. Their new manager won’t be able to do too much for this game – he’ll have only one training session with his players. Ronaldo’s still scoring all the goals for Man United, and his 801-goal tally is unbelievable,’ Merson said.

‘I’m sure Ralf Rangnick will also give [Jadon] Sancho a fair chance. He’s seen enough of Sancho in German football and United have paid a lot of money for him, so I’m hoping it pays off.

‘United fans will turn up expecting their team to win this game, but Palace do have the players to hurt them. They’re a dangerous team, and I wouldn’t be too surprised if they took something away from this Premier League game.’

Manchester United have 21 points from 14 league matches and a win over Crystal Palace will move them above 5th place Arsenal and three points away from 4th place West Ham, who boost of 27 points following their impressive comeback 3-2 win vs Chelsea.
