Manchester United midfielders Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes congratulated Amad Diallo after the forward scored against AC Milan.

Man United played out a 1-1 draw against Milan at Old Trafford in the Europa League round of 16 first leg.

Though the game did not end exactly the way any Manchester United fan, coach or player would have wanted, Paul Pogba and Fernandes wouldn’t hold themselves back from congratulating Amad Diallo for his first Man United goal.

The Ivorian was named on the bench against AC Milan but replaced Anthony Martial at half-time after the Frenchman suffered a hip injury and could miss the tie, confirmed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Upon his cameo, the former Atalanta forward opened the scoring with a beautiful header but the Red Devils couldn’t hold on to their narrow lead as AC Milan pulled level in the dying seconds of the game.

Like everyone attached with Manchester Uniited, Bruno Fernandes was frustrated with the scoreline but was pleased with Diallo’s impact.

‘Frustrating to concede a last minute goal but there’s still much to play next week,’ Fernandes, who provided the assist to Diallo, posted on social media.

‘Congrats @Amaddiallo_19 on your first goal.’

Paul Pogba missed the encounter due to the thigh injury he suffered in the first half against Everton midway through February.

Despite missing the game and the chance to play alongside the 18-year-old winger, Pogba would still congratulate the youngster for his first Manchester United goal.

Posting a picture of the youngster to his Instagram story, the France international wrote: ‘Congrats @amaddiallo19 on your first goal!’

Harry Maguire, who missed a sitter in the second half of the game, has predicted that the Ivory Coast player would go on to be a big player for the Reds after impressing on Thursday night.

‘He’s [Amad Diallo] a young boy with a big future,’ Maguire told BT Sport after the 1-1 draw.

‘Obviously he came on at half-time, trying to impress and he scores really early. That gives him confidence.

‘You can see day in day out in training that he’s improving and working on his intensity and tempo. He’s going to be a big player for us.’
