Paul Pogba: Manchester United identify Serie A star as Frenchman's replacement

Manchester United are reportedly going to reopen their interest in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if Paul Pogba leaves the club this summer.

Man United are increasingly likely to lose Pogba for free when his current deal expires at the end of the season, though the midfielder hasn’t ruled out the chances of him agreeing to a new deal with United.

As a result, The Red Devils are already planning to move forward without the World Cup winner, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and PSG and a return to Juventus.

According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United could renew their pursuit of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, whose current contract with Lazio runs until 2023, if Paul Pogba failed to reach a contract renewal agreement with United.

The Serbian international has been a long-term transfer for The Red Devils. He became a transfer target for Manchester United in 2018 during Jose Mourinho’s era but United would rather sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Speaking of Pogba’s suitors, Foot Mercato this week reported that PSG sporting director Leonardo has clearly insisted with staff at the club to complete the transfer of the Man United midfielder.

MEN reported that PSG have offered the France midfielder a contract but United’s last contract offer is said to be more of interest than the Parisians’.

The same outlet holds that the 29-year-old is still interested in joining the French giants but hasn’t ruled out a potential return to Juventus.
