Predicted Manchester United lineup vs Chelsea: Six senior players ruled out

Manchester United will host Chelsea at Old Trafford tonight in the Premier League and below, we predicted the starting lineup United could use vs The Blues.

Man United will look to bounce back to winning ways, having lost 4-0 and 3-1 to Liverpool and Arsenal respectively last week.

The Red Devils will tend to do so without the likes of Luke Shaw, Fred, Harry Maguire, Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho and Edinson Cavani due to illness and injury issues.

It’s obvious Manchester United are keen on bouncing back to winning ways but facing Chelsea, who had endured mixed results recently, isn’t what Ralf Rangnick would have wanted, given the quality stars at Thomas Tuchel’s disposal.

However, Man United still have available players who can hurt Chelsea but only if they utterly follow Ralf Rangnick’s instructions.

Against Liverpool, the German boss started three at the back but the change of formation didn’t stop the ruthless Reds from killing the game in the first half.

He returned back to a back four against Arsenal but still lost the tie 3-1 to Mikel Arteta’s men, though it was obvious the centre referee and VAR officials were horrible in some decisions that savaged Manchester United‘s chances of entirely changing the nature of the game.

Should Mike Dean, appointed referee for the rivalry clash, officiate at his best, then it would be left for both teams to decide how the game would end.

At the back, Raphael Varane, Alex Telles, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are tipped to start.

In the midfield, Matic and Scott McTominay could pair along, leaving Bruno Fernandes to start behind the likes of Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Elanga.

Speaking about the Chelsea clash, Ralf Rangnick said: “[Against Chelsea] we need to be behind the ball, be aggressive, with all the players involved and take the ball away from them and not let them play.

“We must create chances [against Chelsea], on the other hand, in our moments in possession and create as many chances as we possibly can to score the necessary goals.”
