Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has explained why he dropped Paul Pogba for Nemanja Matic against Everton.
Man United would face The Toffees away from in without the likes of Luke Shaw, Edinson Cavani, Scott McTominay and Raphael Varane due to injury issues.
The fact McTominay, who has been one of Rangnick’s undisputed starters, missed the game due to injury, Pogba’s pairing alongside Fred was well written in the sky, at least according to many Manchester United fans.

However, the German tactician opted to work with Matic in the starting lineup alongside Pogba, insisting that the Serbian is one of the best players at the club who knows how to keep possession of the ball.
Rangnick told MUTV ahead of the kickoff: “I had to choose between him [Matic] and [Paul] Pogba and I decided to start with Nemanja, as a holding six he’s one of the best players we have in possession of the ball so that’s why I went with him.”
Manchester United will go level on points (54) with Tottenham and Arsenal of they beat Everton today.
