Ralf Rangnick issues Manchester United team news ahead of Young Boys clash

Ralf Rangnick has ruled out the likes of Edinson Cavani, Raphael Varane, and Anthony Martial from the Manchester United squad vs Young Boys due to injury issues. Ralf

Man United will host Young Boys on Wednesday in the Champions League, hoping to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

United secured a tight 1-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend in the Premier League to hand Rangnick a flying start to his Manchester United career.

And the German boss would dare to continue the club’s unbeaten run on Wednesday but would do so without a number of his senior players.

Martial missed last weekend’s game against Palace after suffering a knock on his knee on Saturday. As a result, he has been ruled out of tomorrow’s game.

Cavani and Varane have been absent for a long time but despite returning to training today, Rangnick still thinks the pair are a few days away from returning to full training.

“They [Varane & Cavani] both cannot play tomorrow [vs Young Boys] but they were part of the training today. Edi even yesterday, Rapha the first time,” said Rangnick.

“Expect them [Varane & Cavani] both in full training next week. Both are top players. It is also about sustainability. It would be great to have them as soon as possible, but obviously for the rest of the season.”

On Anthony Martial’s injury, the German tactician said: “Anthony [Martial] trained on Saturday and half an hour after he had pain on his knee — we had a meeting with the medical department and we agreed he should try to recover.

“We need to make sure he reduces pain in the next few days and hopefully have him back training next week.”

Luke Shaw remains on the sidelines while Aaron Wan-Bissaka was unused substitute against Crystal Palace after recovering from a hand injury he suffered vs Chelsea, which kept him off against Arsenal.
