Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has claimed that he is unsure whether Jadon Sancho will be available for the West Ham United clash.
Sancho missed Man United’s 3-1 resounding victory over Brentford on Wednesday night due to a family reason.
The former Borussia Dortmund winger missed the game in order to attend the funeral of his Aunt, who sadly passed away this week.
Rangnick confirmed that Sancho asked for permission to skip Thursday’s training after he attended his aunt’s funeral on Wednesday, the same day United played against Brentford.
Despite confirming that the 21-year-old would report to training on Friday afternoon, Rangnick isn’t certain about the winger’s availability against the Hammers.
“He [Jadon Sancho] didn’t train yesterday because he still asked us to not train,” Ragnick told MUTV. “He attended a funeral on Wednesday, it still affected him quite a lot, he is expected back to training this afternoon at three o’clock.
“Right now I’m not sure if he will be available for the game tomorrow [vs West Ham United]. It was an important member of the family, somebody he was close to all his life.
“I have to wait and see, speak to him before training and after training and take the decision.”
Should Sancho fail to be available for tomorrow’s game, the German boss would likely have the same attacking options against West Ham as Brentford.
The former Dortmund star last featured for Manchester United against Aston Villa as a substitute, but the clash would end in a 2-2 draw after Villa scored two late goals to pull Bruno Fernandes’ brace behind.
