Ralf Rangnick names three players who pleased him after Man United beat West Ham

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick was pleased with three of his substitutes Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial after the trio contributed to the late goal against West Ham United.

Man United started the game on the front foot but failed to register a shot on target after the interval.

United maintained the same intensity in the second half and got their first attempt on goal after Fred released a superb strike from inside the penalty box.

Both sides pressed to get the breakthrough but it was the home side, who would get the match-winning goal, thanks to a beautiful team play from Rangnick’s second half substitutes that eventually fell onto Marcus Rashford’s path.

“I am very pleased the three subs [Cavani, Rashford, and Martial] prepared the goal and scored the goal,” Rangnick told Sky Sports. “All were involved.

“That makes it even more important. I would love to have those two points from Villa Park, but with 17 points now we are pleased.”

Manchester United’s goal was a controversial goal as many thought Edinson Cavani was in an offside position in the buildup to Rashford’s goal.

Rangnick believes his side deserved to get all three points against the Hammers.

“If you score in the last second of the game that is the best type of wins, a clean sheet,” Rangnick continued.

“I think in the end we deserved to win — a few moments at the end I wished we would have passed the ball instead of shooting from wherever.”
