Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that both Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw missed the Manchester City clash after testing positive for COVID-19.
On Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence, Rangnick confirmed that the Portuguese star endured a problem with his hip flexor.
Now, Manchester United will look to push for an unlikely win at Etihad without the likes of Cavani, Ronaldo, Shaw and Varane.

In their absence, Rangnick replaced Ronaldo, Shaw and Varane with Anthony Elanga, Alex Telles and Harry Maguire respectively.

Varane and Shaw are expected to miss Man United’s next game against Tottenham at Old Trafford next weekend as they would still be in self-isolation recovering.
Rangnick told MUTV: “Edi [Cavani] trained well in the last three days but in the end he didn’t feel quite well enough to play and Cristiano had some problems with his hip flexor on Friday.”
