Ralf Rangnick told 'massive' Manchester United star Diogo Dalot is 'untouchable' at the moment

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has been told that Diogo Dalot looks ‘untouchable’ at the moment, thanks to his current form.

The Portuguese fullback has been Man United’s right-back in recent games, at the expense of Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s absence due to illness.

Dalot started and impressed against Aston Villa in the FA Cup, whilst Wan-Bissaka was left on the bench as United beat the Villans 1-0 at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old maintained his starting role as Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw against Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League, while Wan-Bissaka missed the tie due to illness.

Dalot would go on to start for Man United and impress yet again against Brentford [3-1 win] and West Ham United [1-0] last weekend.

His recent decent performances have inspired former Premier League goalie, Paul Robinson to hail the fullback as a ‘big plus’ for Manchester United at the moment and claims the ex-Porto star looks ‘untouchable’ in Rangnick’s squad.

What Paul Robinson said

“Dalot is certainly coming to the fore now,” Robinson told Football Insider about Dalot’s turnaround.

“He was brilliant at the weekend.

“I still don’t know where Manchester United are at. They needed a stoppage-time winner to beat West Ham at home. United should be beating West Ham comfortably at home. It should be a banker. It is not the case anymore though.

Dalot is one of the big pluses for them at the moment. He’s massively in the equation under the new manager. He looks untouchable, a different player to what he was.

“It makes you question why he was left out so often by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.”

The former Porto right-back, who has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season, fell behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Due to his lack of playing time, Solskjaer decided to loan Dalot to AC Milan in a bid to get more playing time and first-team experience.

The Portugal international returned back to Old Trafford last summer but failed to get a run of proper games under the Norwegian.

Following the sacking of Solskjaer, Diogo Dalot has enjoyed a run of games under Rangnick but it is yet to see if the German boss would prefer him ahead of Wan-Bissaka when the ex-Crystal Palace defender fully recover from his illness.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka last featured for Manchester United against Wolves and played 84 minutes as Man United succumbed to a disappointing 1-0 defeat after a dreadful collective performance.
