Raphael Varane reveals what's his relationship is like with Harry Maguire, Manchester United players

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has described his relationship with his team-mates, including Harry Maguire as ‘very good’.

Man United signed Varane from Real Madrid last summer in a bid to strengthen their leaky backline.

Despite his arrival, Manchester United still struggle to keep clean sheets, and concede goals that would attract widespread criticism.

Harry Maguire has been slammed on several occasions for his inability to help improve the backline, playing a role in almost every goal Man United have conceded in their recent matches. Something that would have discussed about among the players.

Some fans have urged Ralf Rangnick to drop the Manchester United captain, in a bid to pair Victor Lindelof alongside Raphael Varane at the heart of the defence.

Several Manchester United legends and pundits have accused United of not playing as a team, but Varane claims his relationship with his team-mates is very good and feels good to be at Old Trafford.

Asked about how he is getting to know his team-mates, Raphaël Varane told MU: “Yeah, it’s very good.

“I think I knew Manchester United, it’s like a family and that’s my feeling. I feel like I’m in a family, you know.

“My relationship with my team-mates is very good and as, like I say, I like the mentality here. I feel good, you know, with my team-mates, we have good relations.”

The former Real Madrid defender admits he came to Old Trafford to win trophies but as things stand now, he could go trophyless, as United are only in one competition — Champions League — which they would have to beat Atletico Madrid in the round of 16 in order to keep their chances alive.

Raphaël Varane added: “I came here to help the club win trophies and to enjoy [it] with the fans and to play as well as possible.

“When I watch a game, it’s not just about the goal or not a goal, it’s about what decision has the centre-back taken, is he in a good position or not.

“Has he made the right choice or not, I always analyse it like this.”
