RB Leipzig star Amadou Haidara breaks silence on Manchester United speculation

Amadou Haidara has played down reports leading him to Manchester United, insisting that he isn’t thinking about leaving RB Leipzig as he plans on fulfilling his contract with the club.

Man United’s top priority in the transfer market is to sign a defensive midfielder, having missed the opportunity to do so last summer during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s era.

As a result, several defensive midfielders were linked with winter moves to Manchester United including Amadou Haidara and Declan Rice of West Ham United.

Reports suggested that the Red Devils weren’t looking at signing any new player in January as they fear their next permanent manager wouldn’t be fond of the signings.

That explains United’s inability to make any ins in the recently concluded transfer market and Haidara, who worked with Ralf Rangnick at RB Salzburg and Leipzig, confirms he wasn’t thinking about switching clubs.

Asked about the recent interest from both Manchester United and Newcastle, Haidara told Bild: ‘I can’t say much about that.

‘I’m glad to be back [in Germany from AFCON]. You hear rumours, that’s how it is when the transfer period is over.

‘But I still have a contract and I want to keep fulfilling it. I see no reason to think about change.’

The Premier League is widely regarded as the best league in the world for many obvious reasons and several top players have confirmed this to be true. And many more top players dream to test their ability in the league as well.

Though Haidara agrees the English top-flight is ‘interesting’, he claims he feels ‘very comfortable’ at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

‘The English league is very interesting, many players want to prove their skills there,’ the Mali international added.

‘But I feel very comfortable here and I’m glad that I can develop further here. It’s clear that the English league is very interesting for all of us.

‘But why should I throw this all away for something I might not be sure about? One wonders whether it’s worth it.

‘Of course, I asked myself this question, but I don’t have an answer because I want to achieve my goals here with Leipzig. That’s what I’m still working for.’
