Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United wouldn’t still be Premier League title contenders even if they signed Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
Man United were dumped out of the Champions League after losing 1-0 at home to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.
Some many ideas have been heard, including Ferdinand’s, who believes Manchester United’s issues do not only lie on the players but also on the hierarchy.
Ferdinand said: “If Manchester United buy Mbappe and Haaland in the summer they aren’t winning the league. It needs to be from the top down.
“People say how long is it going to take, it’s hard to put a number on it.”

Paul Scholes believes Manchester United would need to appoint an elite manager if they are to start challenging for titles again.
“I think there is more pain to come before we get to where we want to,” said Scholes. “Man United need to get an elite coach that wins trophies and strikes fear into players.
“If Man Utd got Mourinho after Porto it would have been a different story. At that stage he arrived it was the wrong choice.”
