Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has praised the home fans for their support that helped beat Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Man United returned back into the top-four following a 3-2 win over Spurs on Saturday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace in the first half to ensure United led 2-1 at halftime. Harry Kane had scored the equaliser from the penalty spot after Alex Telles handled the ball inside United’s own penalty box.

Harry Maguire scored an own goal late in the game to put Tottenham back in the game.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo, who began the scoring, would decide how the game ends when he scored a header in the 81st minute.

Manchester United fans kept chanting despite the result. They never kept silent until United had rounded up the game with all three points.

Paul Pogba was pleased with the atmosphere at Old Trafford and thanked the fans for their support.

The France star tweeted: “𝐎𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 🔥 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭!”

The World Cup winner was pleased with Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance and rubbished claims that the 37-year-old is a ‘problem’ at Manchester United.

Paul Pogba told Sky Sports: “Ronaldo was brilliant. I think that’s all we needed – a reaction.

“We scored beautiful goals. Even when we conceded a goal, we came back and scored again. The mentality was there again today.”

Pogba told BBC: “He [Ronaldo] has never been a problem. You have the best striker in history in our team, he cannot be a problem.

“Today the performance from him and all the team was very brilliant.”

The 28-year-old, who wasn’t effective against Spurs, claimed Manchester United still had the confidence of winning the game even after Maguire’s own goal had given Spurs the equaliser.

Paul Pogba added: “We kept believing. In the second half we didn’t get the nice passing, and the movement I think wasn’t there.

“We gave them a bit of confidence, that’s why they scored. But we got a corner and scored the winning goal.”
