Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hit back at former Manchester United players who claimed he doesn’t have the ability to manage big players.
This claim emerged after Man City crashed out of the Champions League following a shock 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in Spain.
City were in total control of the round, given their 4-3 win from the first leg and their 1-0 lead late in the game in the return leg but somehow, they conceded two late goals from Rodrygo and it entered extra-time, which eventually saw Karim Benzema scored from the penalty spot.
Patrice Evra claimed Pep Guardiola doesn’t want leaders and personality in his team, which he believes is a major problem the City boss has faced in Europe.
“Manchester City needs leaders but Pep Guardiola doesn’t want leaders in his team,” Evra said. “He doesn’t want personality. He’s the leader.

“That’s why when they’re in trouble. They don’t want to step up. He builds teams like that. He can’t coach people with personality.”
And Pep Guardiola has reacted to that and took a massive dig at Patrice Evra and other former Manchester United players, insisting that he didn’t see such personality in the Manchester United squad that he thrashed in the Champions League final.
“I didn’t see when I played against them [Manchester United] this kind of personality when we destroyed them in the Champions League final.”
